Fittings by Plumbers
Along with each type of pipe comes an array of fittings designed to help you use that pipe. Fittings enable the pipe to branch out, go around turns, connect to different sizes of pipe and connect to other kinds of pipe.

Pipe diameters are only nominal, based mostly on inside diameter. For example, a standard ¾-inch galvanized steel pipe measures somewhat larger than ¾-inches on the inside and a full inch on the outside.
